Just Back from the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) Meeting 2025 in Washington, D.C.! Attending my first US clinical meeting at AGS 2025 was a fantastic experience. It was fascinating to gain a better understanding of glaucoma services in the US, appreciate their complexities, and reflect on the advantages and differences compared to our own. I was also humbled to meet some of the legends in the field and finally put faces to the well-known names I have followed for years. A particular delight was seeing some of the true greats of glaucoma in person, including George Spaeth and Paul Palmberg—an inspiring experience! A touch of Liverpool in Washington DC, seeing the Beatles Suite as one of the meeting rooms too. The networking opportunities were excellent, and I have come away with a greater appreciation for the global glaucoma community. The end of my January blues… because life is full of ups and downs! The past two days have reminded me exactly why I love what I do. ✨ A full-circle moment – Interviewing medical students at the University of Liverpool with my amazing friend @rachelnagarajan who was a med student with me at Newcastle 22 years ago! From studying in the North East to researching in the North West—life really does come full circle. 💐 Small joys – Beautiful flowers from my lovely PhD student Ashwag Al Mosa, brightening up my clinic room (and my day!). 👁️ A milestone at Alder Hey – Proud to have performed the first Paul tube glaucoma surgery for children at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, bringing this much-needed treatment to Liverpool. Honoured to work with such an inspiring team! 👋 The end of an era – Min Kang’s last clinic with me as one of the current Glaucoma OGs—but thankfully, she’s not leaving NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group just yet!
